I am a third generation American, but I want to use a name going back to my heritage, even though it is a foreign name for most of my friends and some of my family. Is that pretentious? Would it be hard on my baby?

Hi Alina, nothing is wrong with that. You can explain when she/he grows up and able to understand the reason behind the name. You may also seek advice within the family to help you better decide for the name of your baby.

People all over the world do it every day. Why would it be a bad name? Just because something is foreign to you, does not mean it is not native to someone else.
