Any good baby monitors for recommendation?

I am very hesitant to use any of the wireless baby monitors that broadcast. I had a friend who had a full set up with cameras and sound and everything, and somebody used that to determine when the house was empty and robbed them when they were gone.

Hmm.. What if its not on the cloud but only available in a local network so that I can be in the kitchen and i can monitor the baby in the bedroom.

If it has any kind of wireless feature, it is open to being hacked, and even used to case your home or determine when nobody is home. If the whole system is hard wired, okay maybe. If that is the case though, you are better off with a full CCTV system and a server stored in a hidden compartment in the top of a closet or somewhere equally well hidden.
