Born Børge Rosenbaum in Copenhagen, Denmark, he began his musical journey at the age of five and made his public debut at twelve. After honing his skills at the Royal Danish Academy of Music and in Berlin, Borge’s career took flight in the 1930s as he performed in revues and nightclubs across Europe.
In 1940, seeking refuge from the Nazi occupation, Borge relocated to the United States, where he quickly gained prominence. His appearances on radio shows and his Broadway debut in 1941 propelled him to stardom. Throughout the 1940s and 1950s, Borge became a household name through his appearances on popular television variety shows and his own television series, “The Victor Borge Show.”
