Tom Helmore was a renowned English actor and film director, most notably recognized for his portrayal of Gavin Elster in the film “Vertigo.” Throughout his career, he appeared in more than 50 films from 1927 to 1972, with three of them being directed by the acclaimed Alfred Hitchcock. Some of his other significant works include “The Time Machine,” “Designing Woman,” “The Man in the Net,” “Count Your Blessings,” and “Flipper’s New Adventure.” In addition to his film career, Helmore also found success in directing stage productions such as “The Teahouse of the August Moon” and “Noël Coward in Two Keys.” During World War II, he served in the British Army and achieved the rank of Major. Tom Helmore passed away at the age of 91 on September 12, 1995, in Longboat Key, Florida.
