Milton Caniff (1907-1988) was a renowned American cartoonist, best known for his iconic comic strips Terry and the Pirates and Steve Canyon. Launched in 1934, Terry and the Pirates was a serial action-adventure strip set in China and later within the context of World War II. Caniff’s exceptional storytelling and fine draftsmanship made the strip widely read and influential. He played a significant role in founding the National Cartoonist Society and received numerous awards throughout his career. Other notable works by Caniff include Male Call and his contribution to the creation of the Reuben Award.
