Born in Bryan, Texas, Terence Henricks is a retired United States Air Force colonel and a former NASA astronaut. He is best known for his four Space Shuttle missions, during which he participated in various scientific experiments and satellite deployments.

Henricks holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from Texas A&M University and a Master of Science degree in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Houston. Before joining NASA, he served as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force.

Selected by NASA in 1985, Henricks completed astronaut training in 1986. He went on to fly four space shuttle missions: STS-44, STS-55, STS-70, and STS-78. During these missions, he logged over 377 hours in space and conducted three spacewalks totaling 18 hours and 34 minutes.

Henricks made history as the first person to perform a spacewalk while wearing a Russian Orlan spacesuit. He also holds the distinction of being the first astronaut to visit the Russian space station Mir.

In recognition of his contributions to space exploration, Henricks has received numerous awards, including the NASA Distinguished Service Medal, the NASA Exceptional Service Medal, and the NASA Space Flight Medal. He was also inducted into the Texas Science Hall of Fame in 2005.

After retiring from NASA, Henricks worked as an aerospace consultant and served as a professor at Texas A&M University. He is an accomplished pilot, scuba diver, and musician. He is married to Dr. Kathleen Henricks, a physician, and has two children, Lauren and Michael.
