Summary: Richard Waring Rockwell, also known as Dick Rockwell, was an American comic strip artist who gained recognition for his work as an art assistant to Milt Caniff on the widely popular Steve Canyon adventure strip. He also contributed to other notable comic strips, including Terry and the Pirates. Rockwell’s work on Steve Canyon played a significant role in its success and extensive circulation. Additionally, he participated in the production of a short-lived Steve Canyon television series, and the strip was often regarded as the unofficial spokesperson for the Air Force.
