Sam Walton, an American entrepreneur and businessman, founded Walmart, the world’s largest retail chain, in 1962. He began his retail career in 1945 and, under his guidance, Walmart grew to become the leading retail sales chain in the United States and the world’s biggest corporation by revenue. In addition to Walmart, Walton established Sam’s Wholesale Club in 1983. He was renowned for his inventive business strategies and commitment to offering customers low prices. Walton’s book, “Made in America,” detailed his experiences and accomplishments in developing the Walmart brand. He was also acknowledged for his philanthropic work, creating the Walton Family Foundation to support education and environmental conservation. Among his other notable achievements were receiving the Presidential Medal of Freedom and being inducted into the Junior Achievement U.S. Business Hall of Fame.
