Sachin Tendulkar, often referred to as the “Master Blaster” or the “Little Master,” is a former Indian international cricketer who is widely regarded as one of the greatest batsmen in the history of the sport. Born in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India, Tendulkar is the son of Ramesh Tendulkar, a Marathi poet, and Rajni Tendulkar. He began playing cricket at the age of 11 and attended Sharadashram Vidyamandir High School in Mumbai.
Tendulkar made his first-class debut for Mumbai at the age of 15 and went on to represent India in international cricket from 1989 to 2013. Throughout his illustrious 24-year career, he set numerous batting records, including the most runs in both Test and One Day International (ODI) cricket. He scored 100 international centuries, the most by any player, and is known for his elegant batting style and exceptional technique.
In 2011, Tendulkar won the Cricket World Cup with India, and he has received numerous awards for his achievements in the sport. These include the Arjuna Award in 1994, the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award in 1997, and the Padma Shri in 1999. He was inducted into the ICC Cricket Hall of Fame in 2012 and received the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honor, in 2014.
Tendulkar is the only cricketer to have scored a century on his Test debut, ODI debut, and World Cup debut. He holds the record for the highest individual score in Test cricket, with 248 not out against Bangladesh in 2004, and is the only player to have scored more than 30,000 runs in international cricket.
Married to Anjali Tendulkar since 1995, Sachin has two children, Sara and Arjun. He is actively involved in philanthropy and social work through the Sachin Tendulkar Foundation.
