Ruth McDevitt was a versatile American actress who gained widespread recognition for her role as Emily Dodds in the television series “Kolchak: The Night Stalker.” She also appeared in numerous other TV shows, including “The Twilight Zone” and “Gunsmoke.” McDevitt was not only active in television but also in theater and film. She won a Drama Desk Award for her performance in “Morning’s at Seven” and appeared in movies such as “The Parent Trap” and “The Birds.” Interestingly, McDevitt began her acting career in her 40s and became known for portraying delightfully eccentric elderly women. Her talent continues to be appreciated by audiences today. Ruth McDevitt passed away on May 27, 1976, at the age of 80.
