Rupert Giles, portrayed by Anthony Stewart Head, is a central character in the TV series ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’. As a Watcher, he guides and trains Buffy Summers, the Slayer, in her battle against vampires, demons, and other supernatural forces. Giles is a knowledgeable and resourceful mentor, providing crucial information and support to Buffy and her friends throughout the series.

Giles was born into a magical family and attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, where he excelled in his studies and became Head Boy. After graduating from Hogwarts, Giles went on to study history at Oxford University. He later became a Watcher and was assigned to watch over Buffy Summers in Sunnydale, California.
