Matthew Tapunu’u AnoaÊ»i, also known as Rosey (April 7, 1970 â April 17, 2017), was an American professional wrestler who gained fame in World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) as part of the tag team 3-Minute Warning. He also competed under the ring names Jamal and Umaga, achieving notable success in All Japan Pro Wrestling and winning the WWE Intercontinental Championship. Throughout his career, Rosey participated in various WWE storylines and matches, including Survivor Series and Wrestlemania XXI.
The ring name Rosey was inspired by the character “Rosie the Robot” from the classic TV show, The Jetsons. He began his wrestling career in 1995 and maintained the name throughout his time in the industry.
Aside from wrestling, Rosey was an actor, appearing in movies such as The Scorpion King and Eddie Murphy’s Daddy Day Care, as well as a 2002 episode of the TV series “Family Law.” He was also known for his charitable work, raising funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation and participating in the Special Olympics.
Sadly, Rosey passed away at the age of 47 on April 17, 2017, due to congestive heart failure. As a member of the renowned Samoan wrestling family, the Anoaʻi family, he was the real-life brother of former WWE Champion Roman Reigns.
