Ron Simmons, born on May 15, 1958, is a retired American professional wrestler and former football player who gained prominence in WWE and WCW. In 1992, Simmons made history as the first African American to win the WCW World Heavyweight Championship. He was also a notable member of the Nation of Domination stable and formed the tag team Doom with Butch Reed. In 2012, Simmons was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame. Prior to his wrestling career, he had a successful stint as a defensive tackle in the NFL, CFL, and USFL.
