Ron Rivera, a former NFL player and current head coach of the Washington Commanders, holds the distinction of being the first individual with Puerto Rican and Mexican heritage to play in the NFL. Rivera embarked on his coaching journey in 1997 with the Chicago Bears as a defensive quality control coach, later working with the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Diego Chargers before joining the Washington Commanders in 2020. His defensive prowess as a head coach is often credited to the skill levels of his teams. With a career record of 83-72-1, Rivera has guided his teams to the playoffs on five occasions. However, Sports Illustrated ranked him 16th among all head coaches, despite his accomplishments.
