Eric Hilliard “Ricky” Nelson (May 8, 1940 â December 31, 1985) was a multi-talented American artist, known for his work as a musician, songwriter, and actor. He first rose to prominence as a child star on the radio and television show “The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet,” where he appeared alongside his family. In the late 1950s, Nelson transitioned into a successful recording career, producing numerous top-ten hits such as “Hello Mary Lou,” “Travelin’ Man,” “Poor Little Fool,” “Lonesome Town,” and “Garden Party.” His unique journey from child star to teen idol was largely due to his exposure on his parents’ television series. In recognition of his contributions to the music industry, Nelson was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1987.
