Piper Kerman, an American author and memoirist, gained recognition for her 2010 memoir, “Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison.” This best-selling book, detailing her experiences in prison, was later adapted into a popular Netflix series. Kerman has also been an advocate for criminal justice reform, testifying before Congress on the matter.
