Peter Edward Rose Sr., commonly known as “Charlie Hustle,” is a renowned American former professional baseball player and manager. He was an integral part of the Cincinnati Reds’ powerful lineup, the Big Red Machine, during his Major League Baseball (MLB) career from 1963 to 1986. Rose is the holder of numerous baseball records, such as the most hits, singles, at-bats, and games played. On September 11, 1985, he surpassed Ty Cobb’s hitting record, firmly establishing himself as the undisputed Hit King in MLB history. The Sporting News named Rose the Player of the Decade (1970-1979), and he received various awards and honors throughout his career, including Most Valuable Player, Gold Glove, World Series MVP, Silver Slugger, and Rookie of the Year. He secured three World Series championships and was chosen for the All-Star team 17 times. However, Rose’s involvement in illegal gambling ultimately led to his ban from the sport.
