Otto Heinrich Frank (12 May 1889 â 19 August 1980) was a German businessman and the father of Anne Frank, a young Jewish girl whose diary documented her family’s experiences hiding from the Nazis during World War II. Otto was the only member of his family to survive the Holocaust, and he dedicated his life to sharing Anne’s story and advocating for tolerance and human rights. He published Anne’s diary under the title “Het Achterhuis” in 1947 and founded the Anne Frank Foundation in 1963. Among his other notable accomplishments were the establishment of the Anne Frank House museum and his advocacy for human rights. After inheriting Anne’s manuscripts following her death, Otto arranged for the publication of her diary.
