Omar Al Somah is a distinguished Syrian professional footballer, well-known for his remarkable goal-scoring abilities. He currently plays as a striker for both Al Ahli and the Syria national team. Al Somah gained prominence when he scored the winning goal against Iran in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier. His football journey began at age 12 when he joined Al Futowa’s youth academy in Deir ez-Zor. Later, he played for Al Qadsia in the Kuwaiti Premier League before moving to Al Ahli in 2014.
Throughout his career, Al Somah has earned various accolades, such as the Syrian Premier League Golden Boot award and the Gulf Cup of Nations Top Scorer award. He also holds the record for being Al Ahli’s all-time top goal scorer. In the 2022 World Cup qualifying campaign, he scored an impressive seven goals.
