Nikki Haley, an American politician and diplomat, served as the United States ambassador to the United Nations from 2017 to 2018 and as the governor of South Carolina from 2011 to 2017. Known for her conservative views on foreign policy and immigration, as well as her advocacy for women’s rights, Haley has become a rising star in the Republican Party. In addition to her political career, she has written a book called “Can’t Is Not an Option: My American Story” and was named one of Time magazine’s 100 most influential people in the world in 2016.
In 2023, Haley announced her presidential candidacy, challenging Donald Trump. As the first Indian American to serve in a presidential cabinet, she has gained popularity among American voters. However, she has also expressed opposition to transgender women and girls competing in women’s and girl’s sports.
Before her tenure as governor, Haley served in the South Carolina House of Representatives. She was appointed as the United States ambassador to the United Nations by President Donald Trump, and her political positions have been documented in her books “Can’t Is Not an Option” and “With All Due Respect.” Haley has been featured in favorability polls and is considered a major GOP candidate for the presidency. Interestingly, she decided to run for president despite previously stating that she would not challenge Donald Trump.
