Erik Killmonger, born in Oakland, California, is the son of N’Jobu, brother of the late Wakandan king T’Chaka. After his father’s exile for attempting to share Wakandan technology with Ulysses Klaue, Killmonger grew up in poverty in Oakland. Despite these hardships, he excelled academically, earning a degree in engineering from MIT and receiving extensive combat and espionage training.
