Mike Piazza, born on November 4, 1968, is an American former professional baseball catcher and first baseman. Renowned for his exceptional hitting and defensive skills, Piazza had a remarkable 16-year MLB career.
After a stellar college career at the University of Miami, Piazza was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 1988. He made his major league debut in 1992 and quickly established himself as one of the game’s premier catchers.
Piazza’s accolades include 12 All-Star selections, 10 Silver Slugger Awards, and a World Series championship with the Florida Marlins in 1997. He is widely regarded as one of the greatest offensive catchers in baseball history.
In 2000, Piazza joined the New York Mets, where he spent seven seasons and became a fan favorite. He led the Mets to the World Series in 2000 and won the Roberto Clemente Award in 2006 for his humanitarian efforts.
