Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, a prominent Italian artist of the High Renaissance, is celebrated for his immense impact on Western art. As a sculptor, painter, architect, and poet, he created numerous renowned works such as the Sistine Chapel’s ceiling frescoes, the Pieta, and David. He also designed the Laurentian Library and contributed to the construction of St. Peter’s Basilica. Among Michelangelo’s other notable accomplishments are his participation in crafting decorative knobs for two Popes’ beds and his compilation of over 300 poems, which were published after his death.
