Mark Speight (6 August 1965 â 7 April 2008) was a renowned English television presenter and artist, primarily recognized for hosting the beloved children’s program “SMart” on CBBC from 1994 to 2007. In addition to “SMart,” he presented shows such as “Swap Shop,” “Saturday Showdown,” and “Hans Christian Andersen: My Life as a Fairytale” on the BBC. Speight was also a skilled painter and voice actor, contributing his voice to children’s games like “Toonstruck” and “Demonworld.” Despite his colorblindness, he managed to produce intricate artwork by utilizing shades and tones he could discern. Tragically, Speight passed away in 2008 at the age of 42.
