Margaret Smith Court, born in Albury, New South Wales, Australia, is widely regarded as one of the greatest tennis players in history. Her professional career spanned from 1960 to 1977, during which she dominated the sport, winning a record 62 Grand Slam titles.

Court achieved the “Grand Slam” (winning all four major tournaments in the same calendar year) twice, in 1962 and 1965. She holds the record for the most Grand Slam titles won by any player, male or female, with 24 Grand Slam singles titles, including 11 Australian Open titles, five French Open titles, five Wimbledon titles, and three US Open titles. Court also won 19 Grand Slam women’s doubles titles and 19 Grand Slam mixed doubles titles.

Beyond her tennis achievements, Court is known for her aggressive playing style and versatile skills on the court. Nicknamed “The Arm” for her formidable forehand, she was also an accomplished pianist and released several gospel albums.

After retiring from professional tennis, Court became a Christian minister and founded the Margaret Court Ministries, promoting biblical teachings on marriage and family. She also worked as a commentator and coached several young tennis players.
