Marco Belinelli, an Italian professional basketball player, currently plays for Virtus Bologna in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A. He is renowned for his exceptional shooting skills and winning the NBA Three-Point Contest in 2014. Throughout his career, Belinelli has played for various NBA teams, such as the San Antonio Spurs, Philadelphia 76ers, and Sacramento Kings. He also represented the Italian national basketball team in EuroBasket 2007, 2009, and 2011.
One of Belinelli’s most significant accomplishments is becoming the first Italian-born player to win an NBA championship, which he achieved with the San Antonio Spurs in 2014. Additionally, he holds the record for the highest points scored in a single game in the Italian Lega Basket Serie A, scoring 45 points for Virtus Bologna in a victory against Germani Basket Brescia in February 2019.
Although successful, Belinelli has not participated in the Italian national team since 2019, missing the Pre-Olympic Tournament in Belgrade, the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, and the EuroBasket 2022 quarter-finals. Nevertheless, he remains an active and dedicated player in both the NBA and Italian national basketball.
