David Lubega, known as Lou Bega, was born on April 13, 1975, and is a German singer and songwriter. He rose to international prominence with his 1999 hit single “Mambo No. 5 (A Little Bit of…),” which topped charts in numerous European countries and earned a Grammy Award nomination. Bega’s distinctive style blends Latin, jazz, and 1940s and 1950s pop music elements. Some of his other well-known songs include “I Got a Girl,” “Tricky Tricky,” and “Just a Gigolo/I Ain’t Got Nobody.” Bega has continued to create music, with his latest release in 2019. Additionally, he has appeared on the German reality show “Ich bin ein Star – Holt mich hier raus!” and served as a guest judge on the UK version of Dancing on Ice.
