Loretta Devine, an American actress, has gained recognition for her performances in numerous films and television shows. She rose to fame with her role in the Broadway musical “Dreamgirls” and earned critical acclaim for her portrayal in the 1995 movie “Waiting to Exhale”. Devine has also starred in popular TV series such as “Grey’s Anatomy”, for which she received a Primetime Emmy Award, “The Carmichael Show”, and “P-Valley”. Her other notable works include “Crash”, “Boston Public”, and “For Colored Girls”. Additionally, she has lent her voice to animated shows like “The Boondocks”, “Doc McStuffins”, and “JumpStart Adventures 3rd Grade: Mystery Mountain”. In 1999, she appeared on the game show “Versus”. An interesting fact about Devine is that she was cast in Jessie Maple’s “Will”, the first independent feature-length film directed by an African-American woman, while rehearsing for “Dreamgirls” in 1981.
