He rose to fame through his roles in “Farewell My Concubine” and “Happy Together,” both of which significantly impacted Hong Kong’s cinematic history. Cheung’s most notable work is the award-winning film “Rouge,” directed by Stanley Kwan, in which he portrayed the lover of a ghost seeking reunion in the afterlife. The hit song “Chase” from the movie further showcased his singing talent. Cheung’s other distinguished works include “Days of Being Wild,” “A Better Tomorrow,” and “Ashes of Time.” Although he tragically passed away in 2003, Leslie Cheung’s contributions to Asian cinema and his immense talent continue to be celebrated.
