Lafayette Ronald Hubbard, commonly known as L. Ron Hubbard, was an American author who wrote prolifically in numerous genres such as science fiction, fantasy, adventure, aviation, travel, mystery, western, and romance. He is best known as the founder of Scientology and for his popular book, “Battlefield Earth: A Saga of the Year 3000.” Throughout his life, Hubbard published over four million words of fiction and established organizations to promote and practice Dianetics techniques. One of his lesser-known works is the late fiction piece, “The Were-Human,” which appeared in The Fantasy Book in 1981.
