She is best known for her historical fiction novel, “Picnic at Hanging Rock,” published in 1967. The book, set in 1900, tells the story of a group of female students at an Australian girls’ boarding school who mysteriously vanish during a Valentine’s Day picnic.
Lindsay’s literary career began in the 1920s, but it was “Picnic at Hanging Rock” that brought her international acclaim.
