James Gunn, a writer, director, and producer, is renowned for his work on Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy franchise. Born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri, he hails from a large Catholic family with Irish and Czech roots. Gunn’s passion for filmmaking began at the age of twelve, and he has been writing and performing ever since.

Some of his most notable works include writing and directing the horror-comedy Slither, penning the screenplay for the 2004 version of Dawn of the Dead, and writing for the TV show The Office. He also produced the movie The Belko Experiment. Although briefly fired by Disney in 2018, Gunn was later reinstated for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3.

Recently, Gunn was chosen to lead the next era of DC films and TV, following his success with Guardians of the Galaxy. He directed and showcased an extended behind-the-scenes look at his latest movie, The Suicide Squad, during the DC FanDome virtual event. His ability to blend genres and create unique characters has made him a sought-after director in the industry.

Other significant works and accomplishments include directing Avengers: Endgame, which received a 94% rating, and writing and directing the upcoming third Guardians of the Galaxy movie. He also created a spinoff series called Peacemaker, starring John Cena, set to premiere on HBO Max. Despite pandemic-related delays, Gunn has assured fans that both Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 and The Suicide Squad will not be affected.
