Jaime Hernández, a renowned American cartoonist, is best known for co-creating the alternative comic series “Love and Rockets” with his brothers Gilbert and Mario. Since its inception in 1982, the series has been a significant part of the alternative comics movement of the 1980s. Hernández has also created other notable works such as “Penny Century”, “Locas”, “God and Science”, and “Bumperhead”. His exceptional contributions to the comic industry have earned him several awards, including an Eisner Award, Harvey Award, and Inkpot Award. Often drawing from his own Mexican-American heritage, Hernández’s work frequently explores the experiences of Mexican-Americans in Southern California. Besides his successful career as a cartoonist, he is also an accomplished musician, having played in bands like The Negro Problem and The Latin Playboys. A lifelong music lover, Hernández often listens to music while working on his comics.
