Jack Webb was a renowned American actor, producer, director, and screenwriter, most famous for his portrayal of the no-nonsense police detective Sgt. Joe Friday in the iconic TV series “Dragnet” (1951-1959) and its various spinoffs. He also created, produced, and starred in other successful crime dramas, such as “Adam-12” (1968-1975) and “Emergency!” (1972-1979). Webb’s significant contributions to the entertainment industry earned him multiple Emmy nominations and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
A passionate jazz music fan, Webb served as executive producer and starred as a jazz musician in the TV series “Pete Kelly’s Blues” (1959). He also amassed a collection of over 6,000 jazz records.
