Jack Kevorkian, often referred to as “Dr. Death,” was a controversial American pathologist and advocate for euthanasia. He gained worldwide attention for his support of physician-assisted suicide, claiming to have helped over 100 terminally ill patients end their lives. Kevorkian’s most notable invention was the “Mercitron,” a suicide device designed to alleviate suffering. In 1999, he was convicted of murder and passed away in 2011 at the age of 83. Among his other accomplishments were his 1991 trial for assisted suicide, appearances on talk shows and documentaries, and a 2008 congressional campaign in Michigan.
