Henry Irwin CIE (24 January 1841 â 5 August 1922) was a distinguished architect in British India, renowned for his contributions to the Indo-Saracenic architectural style. Among his most notable works are the Amba Vilas Palace in Mysore, the Madras High Court in Chennai, the Victoria Memorial Hall in Kolkata, and the Maharaja’s Palace in Mysore. Additionally, Irwin was an early proponent of earthquake-resistant design in California, playing a significant role in developing new building codes following the 1906 San Francisco earthquake.
