Harold Sakata, a Japanese-American wrestler, weightlifter, and character actor, gained widespread recognition for his portrayal of the villainous Oddjob in the 1964 James Bond film, Goldfinger. Born Toshiyuki Sakata in Hawaii, he later adopted “Oddjob” as an informal middle name. Sakata’s career extended beyond his iconic role, with appearances in notable works such as The Great Silence, Chemical Wedding, and Hawaii Five-O. He also achieved athletic success, earning a silver medal in weightlifting at the 1948 Summer Olympics. Sakata enjoyed a long and healthy life before passing away in 1982 at the age of 62.
