Gloria Estefan is a world-famous Cuban-American pop icon known for introducing the Latin-crossover music. It consisted of a mix of ‘Afro-Cuban rhythms and instruments with pop-rock melodies and songs’. The legendary singer from Havana released 15 albums selling a total of 100 million copies worldwide, with over 30 million of which were sold within the US alone. She is best known for her songs ‘Anything For You’ (1987), ‘The Rhythm Is Gonna Get You’ (1987), and ‘Get On Your Feet’ (1992).
She and her husband Emilio Estefan considered naming their son Nayib as Sasha Argento which is Arabic for ‘benefactor of mankind’. In 2012, that name was given to the first Estefan grandchild from Nayib and Lara Diamante Coppola instead.
Estefan worked at the Miami International Airport as a translator. Because of her fluency in English, Spanish, and French, the CIA tried to recruit her to join them.
