Gina DeJesus became well-known after her abduction at 14 years old, when she was held captive for nearly 10 years by Ariel Castro in Cleveland, Ohio. After her rescue in 2013, she has dedicated herself to advocating for missing persons and survivor rights. DeJesus co-wrote the book “Hope: A Memoir of Survival in Cleveland” and was honored with the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award in 2017. Prior to her kidnapping, she was a skilled dancer, performing with a traditional Puerto Rican dance group.
