Fred Quimby was a renowned American animation producer and journalist, most notably recognized for his work on the Tom and Jerry cartoon series. During his tenure as the executive in charge of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer cartoon studio from 1937 to 1955, he produced several acclaimed animated works, including Tex Avery’s Droopy series, the Barney Bear cartoons, and the animated adaptation of George and Weedon Grossmith’s The Diary of a Nobody. His exceptional contributions to the Tom and Jerry series earned him seven Academy Awards for Best Animated Short Films.
