Frances Reid, an American actress, gained widespread recognition for her portrayal of Alice Horton in the long-running soap opera “Days of Our Lives.” As a member of the original cast, she played the character from 1965 until her death in 2010, becoming a beloved figure on the show. Reid also had recurring roles in other television series, such as “As the World Turns” and “The Edge of Night.” With a career spanning over six decades, she was inducted into the Soap Opera Hall of Fame in 2004.
Born in Berkeley, California, Reid began her acting journey in 1938 with a minor role in the film “Man-Proof.” She made her Broadway debut in 1939, playing Juliette Lecourtois in “Where There’s a Will There’s a Way.” In 1986, she received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for her work on “Days of Our Lives,” and throughout her career, she earned six wins and two additional nominations.
