Forky is a beloved spork-turned-toy who first appeared in the 2019 Disney-Pixar animated film “Toy Story 4.” Created by Bonnie, a young girl who is the new owner of Andy’s toys, Forky is made from a plastic spork, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, and modeling clay. Voiced by Tony Hale, best known for his role as Buster Bluth in the sitcom “Arrested Development,” Forky is characterized by his existential crisis and constant questioning of his own existence and purpose.
Although Forky does not have a formal education, he learns about the world through his interactions with Bonnie and the other toys. His primary role is to be a toy for Bonnie, and he enjoys playing with her and the other toys, always eager to help out. Forky also goes on adventures with the other toys, such as when they travel to a carnival in “Toy Story 4.”
Forky is a symbol of creativity and imagination, as he is made from everyday objects. His catchphrase, “I am trash,” has become a popular meme. While he has not won any awards, Forky has been nominated for several, including a Critics’ Choice Super Award for Best Animated Character.
As a kind and caring toy, Forky is always looking out for the best interests of his friends. He is also a bit of a worrier and often doubts himself. However, Forky is learning to accept himself for who he is and is growing more confident with each passing day.
Originally intended to be a minor character in “Toy Story 4,” Forky quickly became a fan favorite. He has his own line of merchandise, including plush toys, action figures, and clothing. Forky has continued to appear in Toy Story-related media, such as the 2022 short film “Forky Asks a Question” and the 2023 video game “Disney Dreamlight Valley.” He has also become a popular character in Disney theme parks, where he can be met for meet-and-greet opportunities and seen in parades and shows. Forky’s popularity has led to the creation of various spin-off products, such as books, comics, and home décor items.
