Born on January 8, 1935, in Tupelo, Mississippi, Presley had a twin brother, Jesse Garon, who was stillborn. His family moved to Memphis, Tennessee, when he was 13 years old, where he attended Humes High School and graduated in 1953.
Presley’s unique blend of rhythm and blues, country, and gospel revolutionized the music industry, and his electrifying stage presence and iconic dance moves made him a cultural phenomenon. He starred in numerous successful movies, including ‘Love Me Tender’ (1956) and ‘Viva Las Vegas’ (1964). Throughout his career, Presley won three Grammy Awards, including the Lifetime Achievement Award in 1973, and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1986. In his personal life, Presley married Priscilla Beaulieu in 1967, and they had one child together, Lisa Marie Presley. The couple divorced in 1973. Presley was a huge fan of martial arts and held a black belt in karate. He also loved collecting cars and owned over 200 vehicles. Tragically, Presley died on August 16, 1977, at the age of 42, from a heart attack.
