Elena Verdugo was a renowned American actress, most recognized for her portrayal of Consuelo Lopez in the television series “Marcus Welby, M.D.,” which aired from 1969 to 1976. She also appeared in 1940s films such as “House of Frankenstein” and “The Frozen Ghost,” as well as other notable works like “Love and Hisses,” “The Big Sombrero,” and “Million Dollar Mermaid.” Verdugo holds the distinction of being the first Latina actress to have a regular role on a television series. She passed away in 2017 at the age of 92. Besides her acting career, Verdugo served as a radio operator for the FBI during World War II, earning a commendation from J. Edgar Hoover.
