Donald Tusk, born on April 22, 1957, in GdaÅsk, Poland, is a prominent Polish politician who co-founded the Civic Platform political party. He made history as the first prime minister of Poland to serve two consecutive terms (2007-2014) since the fall of communism in 1989. Tusk played a significant role in Poland’s accession to the European Union in 2004 and later served as the president of the European Council from 2014 to 2019. He was instrumental in establishing the Eastern Partnership initiative. As an author, Tusk has written several books, including “Szczerze,” “Blue Papers,” and “Poland in a United Europe.” In 2021, he was elected head of the Civic Platform party, which is currently the largest party in Poland’s opposition.
