Donald Meek, a Scottish-American actor, starred in over 200 films during his career. He is best remembered for his eccentric and quirky character roles in classics like “The Wizard of Oz” (1939), “Gone with the Wind” (1939), and “It’s a Wonderful Life” (1946). Meek received an Academy Award nomination and won a Golden Globe Award for his performances. Despite his frail on-screen persona, standing at 5’6″ and weighing only 81 pounds, Meek possessed a strong presence in real life. Sadly, his life was cut short by a heart attack in 1946 at the age of 68.
