Don Megowan was an American actor, stuntman, and college football player, best known for his role as the title character in the 1958 horror film “The Blob.” He also appeared in other notable films such as “The Werewolf,” “The Creation of the Humanoids,” and the comedy “Blazing Saddles.” In addition to his film work, Megowan had guest roles on television shows like “Rawhide,” “Perry Mason,” “Daniel Boone,” and “The Beverly Hillbillies.” He portrayed the Creature from the Black Lagoon in “Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy” and played the Gill-man on land in “The Creature Walks Among Us,” the final part of the Creature from the Black Lagoon trilogy. Megowan served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was also a talented artist and sculptor, with his artwork displayed in galleries and exhibitions. He passed away on June 26, 1981, in Panorama City, California.
