Dave Mirra, also known as “Miracle Boy,” was a renowned BMX rider who joined the Haro Bikes BMX team at the young age of 13 while still living in Chittenango, New York. He gained sponsorship from Vision Street Wear in 1989 and went on to become one of the most decorated athletes in X Games history, with 14 gold medals to his name.

Mirra’s professional BMX career spanned over two decades, during which he achieved remarkable success. He was known for his aggressive riding style, technical tricks, and fearless approach to the sport. Mirra won numerous BMX titles, including 2 World Championship titles, 5 Gravity Games gold medals, and 3 NORA Cups for “BMX Rider of the Year.”

One of Mirra’s most famous tricks was the “Mirra Flip,” a backflip with a 360-degree rotation. He was inducted into the BMX Hall of Fame in 2007 and received the ESPY Award for “Best Male Action Sports Athlete” in 2004 and 2005. Mirra was also named “BMX Rider of the Year” by Transworld BMX Magazine multiple times.

Beyond his athletic achievements, Mirra was known for his charismatic personality and positive attitude. He was actively involved in charitable organizations and used his platform to raise awareness for causes close to his heart. Tragically, Mirra passed away in 2016 at the age of 41, leaving a lasting impact on the BMX community and the action sports world.
