Dave Lizewski, the protagonist of the Kick-Ass comic book series and its film adaptations, is an ordinary high school student from Staten Island, New York, who decides to become a real-life superhero despite lacking superpowers or training.
First appearing in the comic book “Kick-Ass” #1 in February 2008, Dave’s journey begins when he creates a homemade superhero costume and starts patrolling the streets, quickly gaining popularity as “Kick-Ass.” However, his actions attract the attention of both criminals and supervillains, leading to dangerous encounters.
Dave’s most notable achievement is defeating the supervillain Red Mist, revealed to be his former classmate Chris D’Amico. He also plays a crucial role in saving the city from a terrorist attack orchestrated by The Motherfucker.
Dave’s heroic actions earn him recognition and awards, including the “Key to the City” from the mayor of New York City. Personally, he finds support from his family and friends, including his romantic involvement with Mindy McCready, a.k.a. Hit-Girl, who becomes his crime-fighting partner.
Dave’s superhero name is inspired by the song “Kick-Ass” by McFly, and his costume consists of a wetsuit, ski mask, and rollerblades. Despite his lack of superpowers, Dave’s skills as a fighter allow him to stand against his adversaries.
Dave Lizewski’s story has been brought to life in two films, “Kick-Ass” (2010) and “Kick-Ass 2” (2013), both directed by Matthew Vaughn.
