Danai Gurira, a Zimbabwean-American actress and playwright, has gained critical acclaim for her performances as Michonne in the TV series “The Walking Dead” and Okoye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe films “Black Panther” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever”. In addition to her acting career, Gurira has written and produced plays such as “Eclipsed” and “The Convert”, earning a Tony Award nomination for Best Play in 2016 for “Eclipsed”. Her other notable works include “All Eyez on Me” and “Mother of George”. Born in Grinnell, Iowa, to Zimbabwean parents, Gurira later embraced her dual heritage as a Zimbabwean-American artist.
